2012 South Beach Wine and Food Festival Website it up!

Well, the fun and excitement are just beginning for us as the SOBEFest gets ramped up for this years epic event!  Mitchel and I are SO excited to be participating in Thursday nights premier event the Moët Hennessy’s The Q presented by Allen Brothers, sponsored by Miami magazine, hosted by Emeril Lagasse and Guy Fieri.

We will be cooking along side some of our absolute hero’s in the BBQ community, like John Vergos of  Rendevous, Memphis, TN – their ribs are unbelievable and we know how hard business is and this  joint has been in business since 1948!  Check out their “staff” page it’s a very cool story.  www.hogsfly.com

Not to mention our favorite Food Network guy Scott Conant will be there!

Check out the long list of cool events, fun parties and remember to put Oct 24th on your calendar to get back to the site and buy your tickets, we’d love to see you there – we’ll sure be living it up!

XOXO – Sara & Mitchell

Have you been keeping up with us on Facebook?

I know I really should be here everyday – I mean what if the site is down, would I even know about it? Seriously, my main complaint with businesses is that their sites are always wrong, not updated, no one ever posts to the blog…yadda, yadda….funny huh. I mean, big red truck (from a joke I can’t remember, but thought it was funny – saying like pot calling the kettle black)…I don’t know….no excuses.

So what’s going on at The Q Company, well…we have been serving up some great BBQ all summer (which has been hot, btw) to some of the best customers on the planet. We are enjoying the simple things – like having a place to cook;-)But ready also for the next step. We are currently working on a marketing campaign to bring new choices to the businesses of Jefferson and Berkley counties – we know that there aren’t that many lunch spots in town and we want to make sure that we’re in the mix when folks are around the water cooler asking “what do you want to get for lunch”!

This will mean getting the delivery van fixed up and new logos on it, ordering some great to-go packaging and getting the word out. I will also be looking at some online ordering software that will allow our customers to order on line or through facebook and come pick up their order, or ask that we bring it to them! Awesome huh! Well…it’s also a survival tactic, it’s going to get cold soon and we want to make sure that BBQ continues! So, get ready for that and stay tuned.

And of course we are always on the hunt for the perfect full service restaurant location. We have looked at a few and we’re considering how we could make that happen.

The 2012 South Beach Wine and Food Festival is going to be here before we know it and we’ll be traveling to Miami Beach to work with Emmeril and Guy to bring some amazing BBQ to that crew! Can’t wait for that – but for now can’t think about that, adds too much stress for day to day;-)

Okay, so quick and dirty post today – but I’ve been missing you guys so had to get back here and say hi! Make sure to follow us on FB and Twitter for the most up to date info!

Also wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign up for our newsletter – I’m gonna get that out this weekend too!

Big day at the meat shop!

Well, last week was a good one, we sold out every night! So we’re going above and beyond this week, in fact a little out of my comfort zone to tell you the truth – this stuff takes lots of time, it takes lots of patience and bottom line, it takes a lot of money!  So with the forecast calling for great weather and some great feedback over the past several weeks – I’m in.  Let’s see if we can make it happen.  Lots of meat on the smoker all week this week.  Lots and lots and lots of ribs on Wednesday, lots of Brisket and Pulled Pork all week – make it or break is as they say!

So with that, are you having a party, get together or just don’t want to make dinner?  Grab take-out!  You can call us, and we’ll make sure we have what you ordered saved just for you and we’ll package it up nice and tighty for you to bring home.  Or you can enjoy it right along with us at the Q – we’re looking for you, get in here!

XOXO – Sara

It’s been HOT

We’ve had such a great July so far, we have met some really amazing people, we have had the opportunity to share some of our BBQ and even better some of our ideas for fun stuff we wanna try in the kitchen!

Last weekend we had a tremendous turn out for the live music on the patio, we had lots of new faces and lots of compliments (which I never get sick of). Only two guys asked for crazy things like Cheese and salt – clearly they are northerners;-)Real TX BBQ takes some time to teach people to enjoy. You definitely don’t need cheese or salt with our BBQ folks. Just eat like we give it to you, you won’t be disappointed!

We met a really lovely lady from WRNR radio, we talked to Mike Hornby of Around the Panhandle Magazine, we have an article coming out in the Martinsburg Journal this week – lots of fun stuff going on.

Have a great day everyone, enjoy the week and we hope to see you sooner than later!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO YOU!

Well, so far we have just been having a great time…we have such awesome faithful customers and we are growing our facebook family by leaps and bounds too! Couldn’t be better!

So with that the 4th of July is upon us and BBQ is a staple for every family (most anyway) and we are busy busy, busy! I hope that next year our catering business will be through the roof!

I’m going to work on getting registered for Pickin’ in the Panhandle in the next week or two, finalize our permit for using our trailer for events and just in general growing the business. We know that many folks just don’t know where even in town. I’d also like to do that Great American BBQ festival and the Blues, Bourbon and BBQ series for 2012!

Around the Panhandle magazine comes out this week, and I’m thinking that the issue of the Journal newspaper might have a little blurb about us soon.

I’m also going to work on some fun stuff, like really cool t-shirts, hats, aprons, etc that folks can start wearing around proudly. And to get our sauces and rubs done so we can produce those for sale in the area.

The beans will take a bit more work – but I’m dedicated to getting those into some local/regional gourmet shops.

All that and we are still 100% focused on raising our beautiful daughter Parker – all this is really for her, hope she doesn’t decide to be a vegetarian;-)LOL

Have a happy 4th everyone, remember to say the pledge of allegiance, or sing the star spangled banner like no-body’s watching!

Happy 4th of July America!

XOXO – Sara
